Cold Water
Warm Guidance
Cold water swimming has become a quiet phenomenon around the world. Not as a fad, but as a scientifically proven health practice with neurological and biological benefits, including a stronger immune system, better sleep and increased energy.
And it isn’t just a physical thing. The hard science is supported by “soft” stuff: personal accounts of how cold water has changed people’s lives, helped them deal with depression and anxiety, and elevated their mood, resilience and focus.
Yet, as an approach to life coaching, it’s untapped. At The Cold Untold, I use cold water immersion alongside established coaching techniques and a customised van to help you explore, grow, and thrive. My role is to support, challenge and accompany you with humanity and compassion.
Shallow Sea
*Deep Insight
Cold water immersion has so many parallels with other parts of our lives. It’s challenging, uncomfortable, scary… but here’s the kicker: if you fight, and push through the desire for flight, you always feel the reward. Guaranteed.
Cold water can help us to face our fears and become comfortable with discomfort. In the process it can help us to understand ourselves, to discover things we didn’t know about ourselves, to recognise beliefs and barriers that hold us back.
It can also create conditions for sea changes, and bring answers to the surface. We’re able to find in ourselves what we need to break through and come out feeling able and adequate, actualised and energised.
*Cold water coaching isn’t limited to shallow sea. We may swim in rock pools, swimming pools, rivers, dams and, in some cases, open water. Just know that this is life coaching, not extreme sport.
YOU NEVER REGRET A SWIM
If you simply want a safe pair of hands to introduce you to the open water, or learn how to read the conditions and where the safe spots are, or explore new routes, you are welcome to CONTACT ME.
Submerged Body
Emergent Mind
When you’re neck deep in or under water, and you’re there as part of a coaching process, amazing things can happen. Awareness. Clarity. Conviction. You learn about yourself, things start making sense, you know what you need to do, and you’re motivated to do it.
You’re better able to access a timeless, effortless, selfless state of flow, in which your pursuits and passions come more easily, abundantly, joyfully. You get closer to doing what you want to, and being who you want to.
Thermal Exposure
Emotional Safety
The point of cold water immersion is to subject our bodies to an uncomfortable state. And, just as we instinctively want to resist physically in the cold water, we also often want to resist psychologically in the coaching process.
I’m aware of how hard it is to coldly go where you haven’t gone before. That’s why it’s essential for me to establish trust, confidentiality, and confidence. Environmentally and emotionally, our relationship is a safe space. I encourage you to be as curious, honest, and vulnerable as possible. It’s the best way to flourish.

About
Kim
There are two things that, beyond all others, have had a profound impact on my personal growth and quality of life: cold water exposure, and coaching.
They’re two things that I love – but they only existed separately. So I decided to bring them together.
Professionally, I’ve worked in strategy and leadership development with individuals and teams for the last 20 years. From start-ups to large multinationals. I am fully bought into coaching methodologies because they are practical, action-oriented, and future-focussed to help people shift and grow. It’s both challenging and empowering. And the change is tangible. Breakthroughs, watershed moments… they can (and do) happen quickly and sink in over time.
I’m a certified Enneagram practitioner, which is the most powerful profiling framework I’ve come across. Used well, with the latest neuroscience insights, it is an impactful tool for change. I’ve trained in Nancy Kline’s Time to Think methodologies, as well as Ontological Coaching.
Some
History
My own history with water is that I’ve been an open water swimmer for over 20 years and, more importantly, a cold water lover for over 10. It started when I was living in Brighton, and pondering how to beat the UK winter blues. I remember turning toward the sea and thinking – that’s it! I posted an ad on gumtree, looking for someone to start swimming with. Mike answered. In time we gathered a small, crazy cold community. I haven’t looked back. The ocean is part of my daily life: I’m an ocean swimmer, free diver, proud member of my local NSRI station, and participated in the development of new tech to calculate drift in the ocean (I get to be the person they drop into the water with a tracker for controlled periods).
Integrating and combining all my skills – cold water, strategy and coaching methodologies – is a powerful force for change and growth. It can show you new ways of seeing yourself and the world. It can turn fear into fun and paralysis into progress. I want you to jump in. Courageously. I want you to take big leaps. Quickly. I want you to live fully, vitally, abundantly. I want you to become the person you want to be. And to write the story you want to tell about yourself, for yourself.
